We had 29 participants attend. We had intentions of shutting it down at 24 but had a hard time turning people away who wanted to attend. We didn’t quite have enough rods for each participant. The traveling sisters were introduced to us on the Jesse Brown blog a few years ago on a trip to Wales & Ireland. Now they’ve headed to Spain where high employment, inflation & recession have taken hold. No wonder they’re walking everywhere they go.

We saw mountain tops, sheep flocks , a shepherd, vineyards, almond trees, olive trees and beautiful flowers, views but hard. We crossed two streams, up and down hills and valleys on a trail once used by smugglers coming from Gilbralta. The sky was a very vivid blue with puffy white clouds. A perfect day for a hike in Ronda."-WindyRoad to Ronda

This year they brought along someone to carry their bags. It’s always nice to have a daughter/niece to tag along.

If you don’t know by now, Jesse Brown’s loves you if you love the outdoors! If you don’t love it outside, we just haven’t worked our charm on you all the way yet. We embrace those who seek a lifestyle that knows the appreciation you get when seeing the view from a mountaintop, or the sense of accomplishment as a result of catching a fish. And its those people who we see time and time again buying our supplies to do the things they love. That makes the entire staff grin ear to ear with happiness!

And, in the spirit of a fresh and new summer, when there’s a pep in everyone’s step and the traveler’s itch needs to be scratched, we thought sharing some of our Jesse Brown’s followers’ stories would be a great way to kick of this warm and lovely season.

Some traveling ladies that are frequent Jesse Brown’s shoppers have been trekking through the beautiful lands of Spain, hitting up the new bridge built in Ronda, the churches of Madrid, and celebrating Workers Day in Granada. Documenting the sights throughout the way, our friends were kind enough to share some photos of the monumental places they’ve been.

Another wonderful activity that Jesse Brown’s loves to support is the all mighty fly fishing sport. Many of those employed at our store not only enjoy fly-fishing in their spare time, but also offer their service and knowledge of the sport to any and all! Our good friend and loyal customer Mark Gasior, apart of the Devotion Trout Club traveled to the headwaters of the Mitchell River the last weekend of April. A chill was in the air and the water was as cold as 58 degrees, yet Mark was able to rack up a total of forty catches for the day! He gave all the thanks to his Butch Bug size 14 fly, a dry fly with no dropper. Mark, as well as any fly-fisherman, know that the best results come from using the best equipment. We carry quality everything, from waders to rods to flies, you’d ever need in order to render the best results when out on your fishing adventures.

Wow! We’ve had a pretty warm winter but it looks as if this weekend is finally bringing a cold blast to the Carolinas. In our mountains they are getting snow. This natural accumulation is mixing well with the manmade snow already on the ground.

Heeee’s Back! Record-setting Charlottean Macon Dunnagan comes to Jesse Brown’s

Macon Dunnagan has recently returned from his record-setting 20th climb of Africa’s Mt. Kilimanjaro. Dunnagan began climbing Kilimanjaro on 12 years ago on his 40th birthday.
He will speak on his adventures at Jesse Brown’s Sharon Corners on Wednesday, February 8th, 2012 from 6:30 to 8:30 pm.
Dunnagan is preparing for a Rotary District Climb in September where he (& other Rotarians) will help build awareness of the eradiction of polio & Rotary’s work in that arena.
